On March 22, 1933, an important event unfolded in the Bavarian city of Dachau near Munich in southern Germany: the first official concentration camp of the Nazis was opened. The scope of the war crime, committed by the Americans on the day the camp was liberated and the Malmédy trial, held in the camp after the war are still controversial issues to this day.
